Re: Are Liveaboards Unwanted? Disliked? All over Everywhere?

Wifey B: I'm a city girl and my hubby knows as little about farming and chickens and such as I do. Which is pretty much we know nothing. Only chickens we know are in the grocery store. Which is also where our eggs come from. But I just picture the goat leading a break out of the chickens and dogs and soon there are chickens, dogs and the goat running around everywhere saying "We're free." I do know a girl said they had chickens growing up and they would attack you. Or maybe it's "Revenge of the chickens". I wonder if the chickens on the different boats are friendly toward each other or separate cliques.

If you stay at the transient stage you often wont find problems except with the types who want all anchoring to be regulated and restricted to mooring balls. I cant believe that such people reside on this forum.

No, it was a little Sparkman & Stephens down from Annapolis.

Those would be some of the Big Pacific Coast Mexico live aboard hot spots. Between those 4 places you are probabally looking at 100 to 150 permenant live aboard and I'll be heading there myself soon!

I don't think we've seen any evidence of people with these thoughts here. I have encountered people who do not approve of boats anchored close to private homes, but they are not posting here either.

Re: Are Liveaboards Unwanted? Disliked? All over Everywhere?

Well the chickens are in cages. One boat has cages on the top and there are a couple of floating 'houseboats' that have chickens in cages on their decks. I don't think the chickens get to roam around the docks. Although I have no doubt their owners would let them if they could. The chickens are a new fad, just started last summer.

The dogs are now living in the one person's sailboat and they are renting out their former dog house sailboat. No mast or engine.

One thing I do remember is I was watching the one batch of chickens from a distance and a couple ravens landed on top of the cage. The chickens were all black and the ravens were very curious about them. After a bit it seemed like the ravens were trying to peck the eyes out of the chickens, but the chickens were a little too savvy for this.

I'll have to tell the truth. There is no goat. Not yet. I haven't walked the docks since 2013, so maybe there is one now. And I should add, none of these chicken-boats go anywhere, even if they do have some kind of outboard motor bolted to them. I'd love to post pictures, but I'm fairly well hated enough by that segment of the community anyway.

OK, This boat does surprise me, but then the other five vessels in the background surprise me too! Vessels like this typically do not survie the tropical storm season. Is this some unusually well protected place?

That looks more like Walnut Grove in the California Delta! Yes, very protected. Snodgrass Slough. A lovely name if I ever heard one...

Re: Are Liveaboards Unwanted? Disliked? All over Everywhere?

There are something like 600 boats checked into Guatemala's Rio Dulce. I can't say how many spend how much time there, but it sure seems like quite a few are there as liveaboards.
There is no hint of discord.
