Great read!

We were there in Panama a few months ago. Missed the San BlasIslands But did stay on "The Flats" at Colon and used the Yacht Club there, and shopped in Colon city every day. We found them all fabbo places! I am wearing a shirt today that cost $2 there! Great bargains
Safety for us wasn't an issue - yes we found the taxi drivers trying to get us to get into taxis saying it was dangerous then trying to charge higher fees. LOL theres a scam in every country.

One of our friends was stabbed a few times, but he was drunk walking back to the yacht club at night... and as everyone tells everyone: take a taxi the last kilometre to and from the yacht club! Why? because there is a line of very poor accommodation blocks along the road and then a screen of trees hiding a large trench leading to the yacht club.
So, its not so much the city is bad, its just there is a perfect ambush area where drunks stagger.

Great blog, really nicely written

Mark

Yeah, but what does the shirt look like, Mark?

The old joke is: "Yeah, I used to have a shirt like that. . . and then my Daddy got a job."

All kidding adside, thanks for the complimentary words on the web site. Of course, we write it as a valuable record of our impressions and experiences and that record will be invaluable years from now when memories fade, etc.

It will certainly serve as a tie-breaker when we start fencing over what happened when and where and give us a source to settle "old folks" disputes!

I am happy you guys enjoyed Panama. It ranks very high in our Caribbean Adventures.

All the best,

Buddy
