Trucking mast from Lake Ontario to Hudson

Does anyone have a link to a mast trucking service.

Also anyone travelling from Oswego to Hudson this August perhaps we could get together with a shipper.

Re: Trucking mast from Lake Ontario to Hudson

I looked in to this earlier this year and found a couple of companies that would ship mast or boat. I can't seem to find the information, maybe because I trashed it. I found it to be much more expensive to ship it than just lash it to the boat.

the price was better if the shipper could find a return customer, or if you could piggy-back with others shipping their mast or boat, but either way it was much more expensive to ship than carry with you.

If I find the details that I got, I'll post again, otherwise I hope this helped in some way.

Phone the Oswego marina. There used to be a service there but due to lack of business they never made a go of it. Too expensive to ship just one mast and too much of a delay if they have to wait for a couple of masts.

It's not difficult to travel with the mast on deck. You get used to the overhangs fairly quickly. It's best to leave the main on the boom and the genoa on the furler. Don't need space for them then. Just lay the mast along the boat with the spreaders on. A crutch at the stern and a horse on the bow. Lash everything well, not only for side to side movement but also for fore and aft movement.
