Hello Paradox111,

I indeed have a 1" shaft, but a 17" diameter 3-wing prop. Yours is only 15", and while that translates into only 1" shorter on each blade, I am concerned that I will not have the thrust to which I am accustomed, or adequate for the weight of the boat (13,000 lbs.)

I will do some more research

If you are satisfied with your 17" prop and can reach rated engine rpm the 15" will be underpowered even if you set the pitch higher.

That's my fear. I do not technically "need" a feathering prop (does anyone??), but believe that with it, I may be able to keep up with my friend who evidently has a slightly faster boat ... !

But, I have to find the right one.

What is the likelihood that my 17" is actually too big and 15" is the right size? Seems that there are variances with the gearing ratios too, so, a few moving parts I am trying to understand.

Hi Paradox, it seems the consensus is that 15" will be inadequate. Sorry to lead you on. It might work for potential buyers to know ahead of time what your target market is: <34', less than 10,000 lbs, etc (those numbers are made up ...).
