Product and size selection is actually the last step.
  • What is it for (emergency steering, slight slowing, or storm major management)? These require different sizes.
  • How will it be rigged?
  • Will it help (50,000 pounds may be at the upper end of where drogues function well for storm management)? The forces become huge.
  • Have you used a drogue? There is a learning curve, like sailing.
All of those are good, but they are not interchangeable.

had GR on previous 45 K boat, only deployed at sea in average conditions, no storm. Of course we sort of avoid those. .. I liked the way it slowed the boat and was relatively easy to recover, but probably would prefer a JDS, just looking for a good deal

thanks for responding
