I could be wrong but wasn't this a charitable donation. I suspect they are just going for people who have the money to donate and the boat is just secondary.

Yes. much like what Walter Cronkite did with his old Westsail 43. At their tax brackets, better to donate at full appraised value than sell.

Robert Wagner hands down [sic]

When I lived in Hawaii I'd see "Splendour" (Wagner & Wood's yacht) in her slip at Honolulu Marina. Guy who bought it from Wagner's agent/broker brought it there from Marina Del Rey CA idk when?

Seeing Splendour always made the hair on the back of my neck stand up like earlier in my life when driving past Jeffery MacDonalds former quarters/crime scene (5th Group Special Forces Group Surgeon who killed his wife/kids and got away w/it initially)
Army finally tore down the quarters in 2008 to make new housing thank god!

Not hard to see why that company doing reverse mortgages stopped using Wagner as a spokesperson in their TV pitch ads, people called them saying how mortified we were seeing him, much less him trying to sell us something..

Did a TV movie aboard the vessel in 2000 for the millennium. Movie is called Geraldo Voyager. He's way too dramatic in it of course...

I was in living in Park City one winter ski bumming and he got on a chairlift with me, he's the most annoying person I ever met I think, had the chairlift not been so high off the ground I would've jumped..
