Carribean Cruising Guides

When I went to the Bahamas a couple of years ago I feel I would have benefitted from a better cruising guide. By this I mean a guide with a lot more info on want to see instead of just being a nav guide.

So looking for recommendations for some good guides for the caribbean for things to see. One hopefully written with some slant toward a cruiser instead of a drunken bar/hotel hopping view.

In that case you want a Tourist Guide Book..
Cruising guides concentrate on marinas, restaurants, bars and repairs/services and very little on Culture Vulture excursions.

Re: Carribean Cruising Guides

well the free online downloads are useful, but I appear to be one of those people that really needs to be able to stick my finger into a page while flipping back to something else

Doyle Guides cover all of the leeward and windward ilsands including Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados. The cover more than the Nav stuff.

Re: Carribean Cruising Guides

The free guides are good for DR and PR/SVIs. We use the Cruising Guide Publications' versions for the USVI and BVI. The Doyle guides we use for south of the VIs.

Cheers, RickG

When we are going to be cruising an area for an extended time we try and get a Lonely Planet guide to supplement the cruising guides. Usually gives a lot more history, inland info, etc.
