In By Air/Out by Boat Sint Maarten

We have guests flying in to meet us in Sint Maarten, and then we are sailing up to BVI, where they will depart. Does anyone have any info about procedure for this? Not sure if we need to provide them with any paperwork before they arrive, and I can't seem to find any info on the subject...

Thanks!

I picked up an individual in St Vincent and they just were added to my crew list when I left. I also had the arrival information form when I checked out with me.

Provide the crew with a letter saying that they are joining your boat as crew and will be leaving bound for the BVI on or before a given date. I have a sample letter I have used many times ( including in Sint Maarten ) that I can email to you if you wish.

Thanks Mike! I'd appreciate the email I figured we would need to do something along those lines, but wasn't sure. Our kids flew into Grenada, and when we cleared out of Bequia, they gave us a bit of a hard time....although St. Lucia clearing in/out was fine for them.

When your kids and you left Grenada on the boat, were they on the crew list? So, when they got to Bequia, they were part of the crew. i happen to live in Grenada

I've done in by Air, out by Boat (

To obtain any needed paperwork, we just sent all our info for the sail out to them and the charter company contact info + receipt.

This was over 7hrs ago tho - not sure if anything changed.

Hope that helps some...

Re: In By Air/Out by Boat Sint Maarten

What nationality are they? If they are citizens of a Schengen country then "no worries", if not then a letter stating that they will be leaving on vessel so-and-so bound for the BVI signed by the vessel owner or master or charter company is enough to get them through customs, if they get asked at all. I've had friends fly in with paperwork and they were never asked - the only question they seem to ask
Remember that when you clear in to the BVI, where they will be leaving the vessel, that you need to have that noted on your clearance papers upon arrival (the officials will want to see printouts of the airline tickets for departing passenger from Beef Island onward).
