I have only one experience with getting a boat off of an Italian register and it was very difficult. It toook three years. I should not have bought the boat but I did. Two years later I am only now getting the paperwork so that I can register it in the US. My sister in law lives in England
and we paid cash for the boat and then registered it in her name under the SSR. She gives us a notarized permission to use the boat. We are also listed as additional insured's on the boat. A PITA but we haven't even had to show the registration
to anyone with authority yet.
Now that I have the paperwork from Italy
I am going to investigate how to get it registered properly.
