Re: Florida questions

I have a couple of Boston Whaler outboard boats that are registered as antiques with the reduced annual Florida registration fee. Cbreeze ain't quite there yet but it is a US Documented Vessel (which is no longer free). Sounds like I might want to change her to Florida titled in the next few years.

I am getting too old to get out of St Andrews Bay let alone the country.

How long have you owned the boat? If you have owned and used the boat in another state for more than 6 months, then you do not owe any sales/use tax when you bring it to Florida.

Note that the "and used" part is important. If the boat has just sat there for 6 months, waiting to bring it to Florida, then you will still owe a use tax.

We have owned and used the boat out of state for 5 years. Do you know where I could find the particulars on this?

I don't recall annual FL registration being a big deal, once past original purchase/sales tax issues.
