Carsten, what are you on about???

Of course I have seen a cone: there are ice cream cones, traffic cones, cone heads, the "Cona" coast of Hawaii, hell, I've seen a lot of cones!

Just not one hanging from a yacht's spreaders!

Cheers,

Jim

LOL - Jim I've told you - I'm a nerd about these types of things

I'm really just surprised at how few americans recognize a motorsailing inverted cone.

Maybe I'm just a "conehead"

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Motoring- doesn't that mean we just blast on the horn once when starting?

No seriously, were do we order those ball things? (He states while the bouncers carry him out of the bar)

Our anchor ball is a child's basket ball, painted black, and can be taken ashore for ball games, and then re-painted as needs be.

So, knowing that everything on a boat ought to have more than one purpose, what are the other purposes for anchoring cones?

If you use a real cone rather than a folding one, it can double as a "seethebottomoscope" aka bathyscope.

Re: A Thread for Jim and Anne Cate Including Boat Porn

When I bought my boat it came with an "I STEAM CONE". I had to google it in order to find out what it was. So far it has only been a locker filler. Being that it is a Swedish boat perhaps it was a factory supplied accessory. I have not seen a lot (any) of them in use in the Pacific North West.

On a more serious note..... I have the metal steaming shape but never display it.

Perhaps that is why commercial ships tend to ignore modern sailors 'sailing rights' until up close.....as we often motorsail without indicating our true status until they see the prop wash.

Those might make a good drogue if strong enough.

This may be more true than we want to admit.

We have a lot of round fenders here. I am going to get one in black. It will double as a bumper. I don't know what I'd use a black traffic cone for.

Re: A Thread for Jim and Anne Cate Including Boat Porn

Acually we keep a couple of balls aloft fulltime. They are just forward of our mizzen and out of the way of all our running rigging. One is red and one green. They are just for fun and not abiding any rules,-

I don't find a photo of the red one. 'just glass fishing floats that we put up to catch the light! .... and maybe breaking a rule by default!
('that would be d'fault of the capt'n!)
