Re: Ways to Keep Boat Bottom Clean?

Cheap carbon anything is wishful thinking. It's over. Get over it. Everything you see, are, do, has but one source, and no it ain't God, it's the sun. All that is relative to humans, the Earth itself, come's from that shining thing in the sky. The sooner we get our minds around that fact, the sooner humanity will have a genuine option for survival. Till then we/you can say it's all bs if you must, which is the same as saying ,"your end of the boat is sinking". Good Luck.

I take it that you dont buy into the "2 dollar a gallon of gas "thing in the next 3-4 yrs or that America will be a net exporter of oil and that OPEC will be an after thought..All the folks that think the fat lady has sang her song for the USA will truely be shocked in a few years from now..Am I the only one "buying into"(investing in) this story?

Sea Pen

No need for antifouling or cleaning ever again so would not take long to pay for itself. Don't know how it would go on a mooring though.

Re: Ways to Keep Boat Bottom Clean?

Hi Guy

Don't know how long a ago this 'post' was posted - but have often thought of a possible - inexpensive, environmentally friendly way to keep ones hull clean may be with the use of long plastic strips.
Take a rod - say about 4' long - so you can lift and move along your deck, affix the plastic strips to the rod, let the strips hang in and under you boat, so with wave action and boat movement from wake etc, they will gently rub against the hull, thus cleaning - or at best deterring growth at that section of the boat.
Move it a long, possibly may have to clean a bit of debris of the plastic and keep moving it around your vessel.

How much would that cost and how effective - well no one knows.

I have an International patent on the idea-----but remember - it is only an idea until it works - then it is a 'good' idea!

Cheers
