Water in V-Berth from Waves over Windlass

Hi Folks,

Had the boat out in some decent waves the day after the hurrciane passed through. Lots of water over the bow, and I noticed that some water must have came down, into the anchor locker, through the windlass. Of course, there is always going to be some water in there, from the wet rode after raising the anchor. However, this was enough to wet the end of the mattress in the v-berth, so I would like to prevent it the the future.
I had previously built a small "dam" out of fiberglass to keep water in the locker and drilled a small hole to let it drain down into the bilge. The locker is part of the molded inner liner, and the wood panel that separates the locker from the v-berth is not water-proof.
I am considering making it more waterproof, by sealing the edges, where it mounts with adhesive sealant and then maybe gasketing the locker door, so any large splashes in there would stay there until drained to the bilge.

Anyone else do something about this?
