S2 9.2M Rudder Help

I just bought a S2 9.2 m 30' sailboat. I was checking the rudder, steering from the engine compartment and noticed the 4 bolts that come from the hull that hold on the bearing for the steering are corroded and one is broken. Anyone know how this is constructed and any advice on repairs???

Thank you

Kevin

Mmmmm not off hand, but perhaps if you took a couple of photographs we could give you some ideas on how to proceed.

Post a picture but if I understand correctly, yours is probably just like mine (9.2A). In my case the bolts themselves were OK but there were metal caps or something similar put over the bolts that corroded. I don't know the purpose of the caps, but I pulled the bits of cap off, and used a brush to clean up the bolts/nuts.

I looked into removing the bolts but it was going to be a big deal (they are encased in the hull I believe).

Rudder

Thanks.
The bolts were lags that went into a block of wood encased in resin. I drilled them out and will let the wood dry then put oversize ss lags and seal the bearing and packing assembly.
