redoing interior vinyl - 74 searay - foam backed?

Hi all - so we have finally gotten all the rotten carpeting out of our boat and went and bought regular vinyl to find it shows all the bumps (like i said to my wife!)..

anyway - do we spray on a 1/4 foam to our existing vinyl or go full tilt and get the foam backed stuff @ 20$+/yd?

thanks!

Even with foam-backed headlining, I saw the bumps. Now, I have new felt-backed headlining and I still see the big bumps.
