Foam backed vinyl

Hello all,

Our boat has a lot of foam backed vinyl on the walls and headliner. The open cell foam is starting to deteriorate and I'm going to need to replace it. Anybody ever used closed cell foam under the vinyl?

The open cell foam seems to get wet and hold the water. The closed cell foam wouldn't hold water, but would I need to worry about condensation between the fiberglass and foam?

Thanks,
Joe

Re: Foam backed vinyl

20 years ago I replaced open cell foam backed vinyl with a solid vinyl (sort of if not in fact closed cell foam). Bought it from Defender, but don't think they have carried it for years.
Regardless, the supplier was Hough Marine in PNW.
Looked great, and was confident it would last much longer.
