Noisy Engine Hush Box

like most of you I have a noisy diesel engine. I'm thinking about making a hush box for it, well more sound deadening in the engine compartment and figured I'd consult with the experts first. LOL
I remember speaker enclosures were made out of pressboard for there great sound deadening qualities. If not for the weight issue would pressboard make a good hush box? I realize they need to be resin coated and would have to remain dry but would that work?

Particle board is good for speaker enclosure because it's dense and doesn't resonate, but it's junk structurally.
Many better ways to deaden sound, try a google custom search from the pull down window, I seem to remember several threads on the subject.
