how to install 50yr. old hinge?

Greetings:

I am nearing the end of a three year rebuild of a Rhodes 32. The boat has cabinet doors with hinges that pull apart when you open the door and then lift and wiggle the door up. The boat was built in Denmark, maybe the hinges were too..??

Anyway, I would like to reuse these hinges and am not sure the best way to install them in the new cabinets I built. The cabinet portion of the hinge sits in a 1/16" or so slit in the face of the cabinet. How do I create this dado of sorts for the hinge (router, drill?) any ideas?

Also, I cannot tell how the cabinet portion of the hinge stays in place. There does not seem to be any hardware. Could they just pressure fit in place?

Thanks
Christian

Hmm... some pictures would help .

I guess you no longer have the old doors or frames to cheat off

Very unlikely to be a pressure fit. Sorry I can' help more except for thread bump
