CE CONFORMITY SAINT FRANCIS 44

Hello everyone,

Here is my first post on this forum. I am currently buying a Saint Francis 44 currently under the New Zealand flag.

I am French and want to change the flag of the boat to bring it back to France.

French customs ask me the certificate of conformity CE (European Union) to be able to import the boat.

This boat was manufactured in 1996 and this document is mandatory since 1998. However, the French administrative services tell me that this boat is considered new in the eyes of France and the European Union this document is requested.

Do you know how to get it without going through a certification body?

Would an owner of Saint Francis 44 have it in his possession?

France is more of a stickler for regulations I have found.. I brought a boat into the UK in '05 just after the CE Legislation had been passed into UK law, I was allowed to keep her without having to get her surveyed and CE certified as long as she stayed in my ownership.. once I put her up for sale in the EU however I would have had to certify her to stay within the law.
I bypassed this however by selling her privately as a 'Project Boat'..
Try flaging her to another EU state like Malta.
