i have officially decided that it is too hot to work on the boat today as it hit 58 degrees under my tent today, i was thinking that it was a little warm and feeling a little thirsty so i had a look at the thermometer and it said 58 so i have become a computer geek instead, so what is tghe temp where you are now and how hot has it got when youve been working on the mistress

I have to wait until it gets ABOVE 14º C before I can do any work. And that's only 5 months out or the year here. The epoxy does't cure in anything less. Actually, it's much higher then that. The nights still dip down below 14º. So any epoxy work done has to be cured before sunset, that's if there is sun that day.

At lease I'm not building a boat, just doing major modifications.

Aloha All,
Today is 25c in my garage with the doors open. The daytime temperature is always between 22c and 30c. What slows my boatbuilding down is the high humidity which causes my epoxy cure to be overnight on highly humid days. Of course, beer helps not matter what the temperature.

Ive got it good in SD. Its could now 43F at night goes to 64F 70F during the day. Stuck a electric heat pad under my drum of epoxy keep switching it from low to high to maintain 64F internal resin temp. Summer is 65F to a max of of 78F day. Got to have some benefits to living with so many people. Traffic really sucks.

Jack, we need to blow this cold weather down your way for a day or two. It's been 40's and 50's in Nor Cal the past week. Screwed up my boat building for the weekend. Keeps looking like rain. Oh well, it's New Years. I'd rather be drinking anyway

you should see how fast epoxy sets here sometimes and this is with the extra slow hardener

I am in Sydney and temperature fine at present.

My biggest problem is rain, my boat is on hard stand in parking lot of my factory, and although I have rigged a tarp to protect her from the elements, when the wind blows and the rain falls, the tarp collects water in places and becomes a real pain in the arse.

Oh well, could be worse, I could be back at work already not working on my boat.

Currently doing major repairs on the boat out in the open . If I had known it was going to take this long I would have built a shed ! Have a new hardtop partly constructed out of PP honeycomb and epoxy and would appreciate some advise on the supports .

happy to chat anytime, just pm'd you the number, what does a hedly nichol look like anyway? out in the open would have kinda sucked over the last couple of months then, ive found this wet season to be very depressing boat building wise and have done very little over the last 9 weeks

The epoxy repair on my fuel tank is still tacky after 5 days because it got colder. Tomorrow I'm going to put a heater on inside it and hopefully cure it properly - and on the subject of temperature I truely believe you southern swabs bring up the weather on purpose during the winter and early spring to torture us northerners because you know how impatient we are getting to work on the boat and splash her.

C'mon guys - give us a break - it's hard enough trying to deal with the cold and snow and cabin fever!

I guess is like everything, its sometimes too hot to work and I would like some cold weather to ease the HOT days, the grass is always greener on the other side

I would not mind being in Australia though...
