Bilge Covering Board Fastening Method?

Curious to know if anyone has a nice way to secure their bilge covering boards? I am redoing my cabin sole, the existing boards are loose but I would like to make the new ones secure.

I have been maybe thinking the finger-breaking-hole with a catch inside, maybe a shock-cord loop to a hook on the bottom of the board. Any good ideas out there?

Also I have been thinking about making the entire sole removable, as in countersunk finish washers and screws, rather than concealed fasteners and bungs. Anyone else do this?

Seems like anywhere there is an edge there is a place for dirt and other crap to collect and I am thinking if I make the panels that are easily removed, then they will be removed, and the boat will be cleaner for it. Also, would be easier for future varnish to be able to take them out of the boat.

I am not entirely thrilled with the counter sunk finish washer though, any other thoughts?

One of my favorite methods for securing floorboards is to install a blind dowel in one end, and a flush-fitting Perko lift-ring latch in the other.
