Yanmar engine control levers query

Hi

I have a Yanmar 2qm15 diesel engine which has the original single lever controls for engine throttle and gearshift.

My control unit is old and in bad shape due to corrosion so I'd like to replace it with a new one. Can anyone suggest what model control lever I could use as an alternative if the Yanmar type is no longer available.

Thanks,
bony.

Look at the Morse/Teleflex range. Morse MV-2 is the go if you can find one.

For my 3GM30, went with TeleFlex TFX CH1200P. Install was fairly easy and seems to work fine. Don't have much time on it but no reason to think it won't continue to work just fine. Old control was the Morse two removable handled control that seemed to be Universal in the '60s-'80s. Transmission is a Kanzaki.

Before you use the template to cut the hole for installation, see if you need a hole that large. The template cuts a hole that's way too large for a control that will be mounted where you have access to front and back.

Re: Yanmar engine control levers query

Hi Lockie,

Googling around for a morse mv2 shows that it's been discontinued and the nearest eqivalent is the mv3. The difference with them is the entry points for the cable. The mv2 has 360 degree cable entry while the mv3 has rear access only. I'll check into it further.

Thanks for the advice.

Cheers,
bony.

Hi Pete,

Thanks for the good info, but when I google "TeleFlex TFX CH1200P" nothing shows up. Are you sure that's the correct number for you control?

Bony;

Have a look at the manual for your engine & transmission. It will tell you how much movement you need in the twp cables for the full range of idle to flat out, and forward/neutral/reverse. Then find a lever that matches that.

You'll be right, it's not rocket surgery.

Lockie,

Ok. I'll check the manual, I guess I should have done that in the first place.

Thanks for the help.
