Yanmar 4JH57 to B&G Connection?

I'm toying with the idea of connecting my Yanmar 4JH57 to my B&G Zeus2 network to get a bit more engine data at my fingertips. Has anyone done this? Any help with cables, pro, cons, methods, etc. would be appreciated.

Sorry... Can't help you. I never did connect the Yanmar to the B&G system.

Re: Yanmar 4JH57 to B&G Connection?

I used a NoLand Engineering RS11 to connect my 4JH4-HTE to our N2K Zeus2 network. Works great and only took a few hours to install. I now have all the gauges and idiot lights on my engine panel (tach, oil pressure, engine temp, etc.) on my N2K network and chart plotters.

Re: Yanmar 4JH57 to B&G Connection?

I guess the 4JH57 is a common rail engine which has CAN J1939 interfaces. I plan to do the same with a 3JH40 engine next year and did some research.

Apparently Yanmar offers the N2K interface. I got hold of a parts catalogue of this engine and in there it suggests the ECI-100 of Raymarine to convert from J1939 to N2K. There are detailed schematics and part numbers of the cables that would be required.

I can attach a picture of it later on (don't have it at hand right now).

In addition to this there is a post in the Raymarine forum about it. Just Google "ECI-100 3JH40".

That being said I did the research for the 3JH40 but I guess the 4JH57 is not so much different when it comes to interfaces - no guarantee though.

The ECI-100 manual refers to the 4JH57.

Re: Yanmar 4JH57 to B&G Connection?

Have a look at the Yacht Devices YDEG-04 gateway: https://www.yachtd.com/products/engine_gateway.html
They provide a connector for Yanmar 4JH engines.
Have not tried it, our engine is a 4JH5E which is not supported, but the 4JH57 should work.
