What is the 'spring joint' on Yanmar 1gm/2gm/3gm/3hm clutch?

This is a Yanmar 1GM, Clutch 02307, KM2A from, I believe, the 80's.

I seem to have the spring joint which attaches the throttle lever to the control cable but my manual also shows a 'spring joint' on the clutch control which is an arm containing a spring which attaches at 90-degrees to the clutch arm of the engine (as per the diagram in this thread)

I don't seem to have this part and can't find any information on it, nor a place to buy it. Maybe I have the name wrong, but it's taken right from the manual. Is it possible to temporarily replace this part with a solid piece of barstock until I can find the proper, sprung replacement? Maybe someone with a 1GM could take a quick look at it and give me dimensions if it appears that it would operate without the spring part, or someone else can inform me if they know a jury-rig is not possible?

I'm a bit baffled by this.
