I did leave out one important detail in my first post. When I was cranking the engine to flush the water thru...each time I cranked it I put just a squirt of clean diesel fuel into the top of the cylinder, through the injector hole, to prevent or minimize ring and cylinder damage. Also, I did go to great lengths to keep the injector hole covered at all times except when necessary. I think my estimate of how long I cranked the engine was a little long. It was probably more like 5-7 sec. It just seemed like forever. Good luck!

Petrol in the water tank - one very effective way to discourage smoking in the heads!
