Small Yanmar with a leak… how to fix, if even temporary?

70V 1cyl Yanmar
What causes the leakage seen in photo and video.
It’s not a big leak but the heat in the engine area makes for a stink in the cabin and it does accumulate over time.

I’d be very thankful to reduce the stink.

Thanks!

Water, fuel or oil?

Ok. Thanks for trying.
If you click on the link for the picture, not the video, then zoom in on the area that I circled…

Ok, what is the exact model of the engine? It looks air cooled
Do you have a pic with a more general field of view? So we can get an idea of how things are layed out on this engine.

It looks like a cracked steel pipe; if so replace it. I thought it was an external oil line but if it is leaking diesel, then it is a fuel line and even more important to replace ASAP.

Is this on a Mase 4.0 generator? I also had trouble with the video.

It looks like that’s the high pressure fuel line between the pump and injector, it may have chafed through where it sits in that holder. I’m surprised that the engine isn’t showing a loss of power…. but if that IS the injector pipe a total loss of power is not far off since its a single cylinder engine.

Bringing this back.

So... it appears that it is likely the return hose. I haven't been to the boat to take a look, plan to shortly. The person that said they were surprised if it was an injector line leak - that makes sense because of what my friend at Mase said (return).

On these older Mase (2006-ish). Make sense?

I'm 99.9% sure that is the high pressure injector fuel pipe rather than a return line.

That is what I thought from the beginning.

I'm thinking... remove the high pressure line and test of leaks?

The injector pipe should be a heavy walled steel pipe with a wall thickness around 2mm (>1/16") and operating at around 2,500psi so unless you can test at those pressures, just replace it.

Interesting. You don't think if I sealed the ends and pulled a vac on it and then measured for loss, that would tell me something? I'm thinking along the line of a Mighty Vac or sim.
