Review on UK sails vs Super sailmakers

Recd 2 estimates so far 1 from supersailmakers and 1 from Uk in miami Lauderdale? Cant find many reviews on either. Pulling the trigger soon. Super seems very cust svc oriented but price is 800 more w out battens (using the old ones) where as UK is 800 less with new battens (wondering how and what the catch could be)
Any info greatly appreciated....

I think you owe it to yourself to call Mack sails prior to the trigger pull. Stuart, FL.

Re: Review on UK sails vs Super sailmakers

I bought a new 155% tape drive Genoa from UK Miami some 12-13 years ago for racing and cruising our Cal39. It was the less expensive "tape drive silver" model that they had at that time. Mylar with taffeta and glass tapes. The sail had very nice shape, pulled like a freight train, very little stretch, and the quality of the workmanship was good. Given the thrashing we gave it for over ten years I would say it was a good value.

Re: Review on UK sails vs Super sailmakers

We have 27 year old UK sails on our boat... they have just started to give up the ghost. I got a great quote for new UK sails just a month ago. Beat out Quantum by a large shot. All the UK (miami) sails are made in Miami and not overseas.
