Racor 500fg Filter

the round plastic part that looks like an umbrella inside the filter glass housing that threads onto the lower part of the shaft has come off the shaft and a metal ball was floating in the diesel oil, do I just need to take it apart and screw it back on the shaft? thanks Andy
