Good you got it repaired and are safe. I've been give the advice to "just sail" before and it really is very condescending since those folks giving the advice have no clue about the conditions or the location.
Once sucked a fuel tank
dry with all the junk in the bottom of the tank clogging the filters on a light wind
day in a ferry
lane. We just raised the sails
and pretended to sail so the ferry
wouldn't run over us while I worked feverishly below changing filters and bleeding the engine
. Never fun when you can't really sail out of a dangerous situation.
Luckily I had another tank aboard.
