Electric Fuel Pump for Diesel Engine

i'd like to add an electric fuel pump between the tank and the racor filter.

can anyone recommend a high quality 12 volt pump for 3/8" hose?

what volume do you need? small engines (westerbeke) come factory with a FACET pump up to about 30-40 hp.

Walbro FR series are suggested on a lot of sites discussing fuel scrubbing and transfer

Walbro FR-Series Industrial and Marine Fuel Pumps from Fuel-Pumps.net

Facet makes a decent fuel pump....it is compact and has an internal Screen

Walbro is a good pump but has no cleanable screen

On ANY electric fuel pump, the installation instructions say to have a filter before the pump.

Are your intentions to make priming the filter easier?

the purpose of the pump is to supply fuel to the engine - a 50hp perkins 4-108. it's not for a so called 'scrubbing' system. i think it needs to create about seven pounds of pressure.

and thinking about it, i can understand why the fuel filter should be before the pump, not after it. will have to rethink where i can mount the pump.

Fuel pump

I recently had fuel problems on my 4107, so I bought 2 "facet" pumps, $80 or so each.

Just remember to make sure they put out 3-4 psi without regulation. They work a treat.

One of them is on the line from my main tank.

The second I put in the middle of a 2m hose with outbourd snap style fittings. I put a mating snap lock fitting on the second intake into my cav, and can either refuel or run the engine off a 20l outboard tank.

In Aussie where Billwa enjoys his boating most low flow installations have CAV primary or secondary filters without displaying any signs of problems could you please enlighten use as to any problems to look forward to.

I have a fuel pump that I purchased at an auto parts store installed on my 4.108. Works very well. It installed after the flow from the Racor. Bob
