4108 crankshaft pulley loose

I had noticed a "ticking" sound in the front of my Massey Ferguson 130 engine. Looked at the fan and each blade had a 1" length along the top of the fan blade that was worn down. Also noticed that the front sheave on the pulley was also worn, this was the source of the ticking sound.

How does that double sheave attach to the crankshaft? Is this threaded on with a big nut? Or, is there some other mechanism?

Needless to say, I don't want a wobbly sheave as it could be stripping threads on the crank. I just wonder if I'd have to take the front off my tractor to get to said sheave.

I remember an acquaintance borrowing a very large sockect that fit the 4-108 crankshaft nut on the front of the engine. It was either 1 1/16" or 1 1/8" or thereabouts. Once he borrowed it I had lots more borrowers who wanted to tighten theirs up. It was not metric.

Good luck and sorry I can't help with a tractor question because I have a Yanmar in my tractor.

My Mercedes engine has a large bolt that screws into the end of the cranshaft and I'm thinkthing that the 4-108 is probably the same. Still need that big socket though.

The crank pully bolt is 1 1/2 inch. For perkins 4-108.
