Re: The New Vagabond Hits The Water

I sort of got tripped up by the daily vlogs. I used to keep up religiously when they were weekly, but I've sort of gotten burned out on them. I feel like the underlying feeling of the videos has changed. It almost seems like they used to do them for fun, now they do them for work, and you can feel the difference.

(Do you think they still get almost $10k a pop for the daily videos? If I was a patron expecting weekly videos the jump to daily would be quite a shock).

Or it may relate to the fact Delos has multiple years and 10's of thousands more miles of experience.

Re: The New Vagabond Hits The Water

You can't compare Delos vs LaVaga as both cater to very different consumer bases,

The reason LaVagabond have been so more successful than Delos in only just 12 months has been that Riley and Elana cater to a wider audience than just sailors.

If you look at who is posting comments on the Vagabond channel they are mainly from NON sailors and a hugely more diverse of age groups, (this is why they are so more successfull, and sailing has little to do with it)

No. You can set a bunch of factors, including a monthly limit as a patron. So I doubt they are making any $ from the dailies.

When do they receive the boat? Must be SOON!

Ouremer is already ahead
A rather boring launch video - boat is darn nice but - 50,500+ views on youtube to date.
Handover is likely to crash the internets.

I agree with the multiple years years of experience part of your statement and they certainly have more miles as well but 10's of thousands of miles? Perhaps a bit of an exaggeration. Certainly more miles and in some of those miles in very challenging conditions.

I like the both vlogs for different reasons. The Delos group have a great combination of sailing videos with some fantastic experiences from the areas they have visited. La Vaga is interesting to me as they have grown as sailors, especially Riley. This last bit of videos as he has been single handing has been especially good. Quite and introspective guy Riley is.

Once the sailor was completely cut off, now he's everywhere, same day v-log posting. Once there was an infinitesimal chance of rescue, now we have AIS.
Once oceans took months, now we have 200+ mile days.
Things have changed.

Elayna recently posted on Instagram that they were flying to France...soon. Haha, I just checked to see what I read and she was packing items from the old boat and said they would be flying out soon.

Re: The New Vagabond Hits The Water

Their latest SLV video gives a few more insights into how they connected with Outremer and what the deal is (my understanding was mistaken). Good for them, they're the best.

All the vlogs were record on the trip but posted up well after he arrived in New Zealand

As for AIS and speedier ocean crossings, is this a bad thing for you?

Re: The New Vagabond Hits The Water

OMG that tiller arrangement and tiller seat is BRILLIANT. It in fact addresses one of my biggest complaints about cruising catamarans which is that it's more like driving a truck than sailing a boat. The tiller and placement of the seat changes everything...

Not bad as such, but it is a change. Rapidly approaching the point of telling Alexa "sail me to Tahiti" and sit back while the AI plots the weather window, course etc. and actually sails the damn boat for you. Is that going to make everyone happy?
