I have just noticed a depression in the deck on the port side close to the mast base. I have had some leaks through the cable glands at the base of the mast and, it seems, through the bolt holes of the staysail sheet track. I have "sounded" the deck in way of the depression and near it where the deck is okay and there are no hollow or soft sounds so all seems solid. Does anyone have any experience with sinking decks on a Prout and in particular the Quest 33 CS ???

It might be useful to start a new thread with this question in the maintenance topic. Not everyone knowledgeable on Yanmars is going to be following a Prout thread.

The Yanmar 1GM, 2GM, and 3GM series all use Yanmar Oil Filtre part #124450-35100. I recommend using the factory filtre, which shouldn’t increase your annual cost by very much (perhaps $10 extra/year?).

Check /w an expert, like Pat McCartin (Never Monday), on the Engines thread.

Possible alternatives (careful ~ use at your own risk):

I have got a Prout 33 - Quest and am busy renewing all the head lining - only solution once the 'droop' set in....... Agony.

If the other posters to this tread would like me to start a Prout Owners Association set of Pages on my site I would be pleased to do so... would cost nothing but do not want to muscle in if others want to do it.....

Having finished the new head-linings in the saloon I know exactly how the 'roof' is constructed and it is simply a single layer of GRP. I really cannot think how it would be possible for it to sag unless the GRP is delaminating. On the mast base is a bonded plywood strengthening and the mast base sits on what is effectively a mast support down to the hull. Either side should not be taking pressure.

Post me more details of exactly where and I will have a look on Tuesday to see if it could be anything else

I have in fact started a PROUT OWNERS ASSOCIATION on my web site www.michaelbriant.com then click on the PROUT OWNERS ASSOC. button.

There is a membership list to join the club and considering it has been running 24 hours only is doing well.. I have just posted my head lining replacement experiences and there is some other quite good stuff on the Association site. Do please have a look and join if you want... I have only had my Prout for just over a year so contributions from more experienced owners are very welcome.

There is a for sale area which might be useful for the 100 oil filters and the info on the types which also work with Yanma is also valuable and I am going to add it unless you object?

The site is very much for sharing info and help so please feel free to add anything you want to it and to tell me what you would like changing or including..

I have two main email addresses one specifically for family and friends, never published anywhere. No Spam

The other is used for advertising my boat, participating in forums like this. 95% of email is Spam. Soon as an address is published on a web page the Spam will start to arrive.

Only model with galley up is Prout 50. I think Prout 45 has enough space on the bridgedeck for a galley. Mind you that would mean less than 1/2 the size of galley in starboard hull.
I like FP cats but their galley and nav station is so tiny. Prouts are much better in this regard.
