The Hull Identification umber is to be permanently affixed into the hull or hull member, or on a plate, such that the removal of the HIN or plate would be obvious and non-normal to the surrounding surfaces or area. No character of the HIN is to be less than 6 mm (.250”) in height and width. The HIN is to be located as follows:

On the transom above the load waterline (preferably on the upper starboard quadrant.)

* The starboard side at the aft end of the hull that bears the rudder or steering mechanism if the boat has no transom.
* The outermost starboard side at the aft end of the hull, if the boat has more than one hull and no transom.

What model and what year are you talking about. The earlier built boats didn't have any hull ID numbers on the hull, the later ones do (the French builders didn't assign or attach any numbers until everyone agreed that a hull ID number was a good idea, in the format we are used to seeing since the early seventies). On the older Fountaine Pajots, there was a metal plate attached in the cockpit near the helm, and sometimes you could find that same number on the port side at the stern, that gave a unique number to that boat, along with the year built and other information. On the newer ones, there is an engraved or stamped number where the starboard hull meets the bridge deck inboard.
Hope this helps,
Brian

FP Hull Identification number

Marius,

The FP Hull Identification number is on the starboard Hull.
On the outside stern at the top of the sugar scoops.
