How does a Cat overcome the hull effect?
Cats create a very small a bow wave compared to mono, so standard hull speed calculation don't work. The newer cats do with their large rounded bows and flat sugar scoops do seem to create more of a bow wave than the older canoe style hulls.

Probably why I don't many dolphins visiting my boat when I'm sailing along. They like to play in the bow wave. At 7 knts I don't create one.

its the willingness to suffice the charter market, which is a constant stream of sales. And their need to fit 2 double berths in a 38ft hull. Which creates the need for 40+' cats to do similar or they seem so much less for accommodation. Why would you buy a 40' boat that had less?

The example in the video doesnt have hulls any where near that ratio of B/L

Stunning. It seems recently some of the Atlantic coast French builders are going this route (Pogo Structures with their Loxo).
One of the comments says it’s a Bob Oram design, any confirmation?
