If dad buys the land at a very low price due to the current chaos it will actually appreciate in the future. I am watching the local prices for a bottom to do exactly that.

First, if you think you don't have to feed a boat every day, you haven't owned one. There is a reason BOAT is an acronym for Break Out Another Thousand. That said, take a look at your plans, and consider a more reasonable plan. Something that will eventually give you the experience that you want, while sounding a little more financially reasonable than an outlay of $350k.
Let's assume for a moment, that you have access to a local marina. What about an investment in a small fleet, maybe 5 small boats, such as 14' Lidos. Try starting a day sailing charter business with these. Get some skill running a business or the type you are hoping to accomplish. Prove your ability to run it, and add to your sailing experience. Then, in a few years, you can reasonably approach your father with a proven track record, and discuss selling that business to start a full scale charter operation.
Take a practical approach, and remember, since you are under 18, you can not enter into a contractual agreement anyway, so you will be limited in your involvement in any venture, until you are 18

if you read your bible just a little more you would find that god is calling you to a life of holiness(seperation from sin=evil) and to go and preach the gospel of good news to all men, i have often looked to see if i could find a calling just to go sailing but sadly it doesnt appear to in the bible and if it aint in there and its a feeling then theres one word for it mysticism, this is not to say that you cant enjoy sailing or life ( i do both) but if you want to follow god on the water then go and be a chaplain in the navy

Plant the money for a reliable return, then go to College, dude! Business School! Network your buddies, and write up a business plan; figure all the nitty-gritty details, and consult marketing studies. It worked for Roger MacGregor.

If Daddy has a succesful business he understands leverage and woul never give 350K for a single boat to make a charter business, much less hand that much to a seventeen year old. But then when I was 17 I wanted dear Ol dad to fun my cross country adveture in a Corvette so I could write Route 66 part Duex. Your chances are about as good as mine were. Pops still laughs when he tells that story to everybody at Thanksgiving dinners.

Well, now you have learned that Daddy's have little girls that need to be protected. Guys, Little Otter, can fend for themselves. A guy is to find his own way. My father and mother always protected my sister. This is a man's world. Men can make it. Women have a harder time and men need to protect them. That is where male chauvanist pigs have orginated. Your desire to have a charter business can be a reality if YOU put forth the effort. Many people men have lived in cheap vehicles and saved for the business of their dreams. If you look at the men that have achieved their dreams they lived in tents, cars, or with other men before they bought or rented their own abode. Some men have bought a 2K boat and lived aboard it and saved for their business. Not many men or women lived in a mansion and started a business. The book "Everything I learned I learned in Kindegaten" is right on. Work HARD. Do not spend on wine, women, and drink.
