Got the Boat --Now What?

Hay all picked up my leopard 40 in BVI and sailed her back to USA.
Had a delivery crew but 2 got sick and had to leave the boat. 1st mate and I sailed her all the way back with 3 hr watches 24 -7. had a great time and even got to dodge the tropical Low over the DR.
So now just got off boat and started the list of items I need .
Like air - gen set - radar- solar panels Just small things .
Looking forward to sailing in FL.
Thanks to all on this forum who helped me with info on cats . You all made buying not easier but more informed

THANKS ALL

got the boat --now what ????

Congrats on the successful pick-up of your L40! It sounds like a good trip. Our L40 is in the yard in WPB getting some TLC but hopefully it won't be there too long. Hope to see you around!

Yes, congrats rancher. You must be very excited and pleased that she ( I was referring to the boat, but it would also apply to your first mate) did so well on your maiden voyage.

Cheers!

Oh my GOSH I'm so excited for you! We really like the Leopard line, and you picked up a lovely boat. I hope you got an amazing deal on it. I wanted to add a few things to your "list" (for your wife.. )

Things to make the boat CUTE!! new bedding... towels, rugs.. throw pillows. cute matching dinnerware...not to mention a few swimsuits and wraps to look adorable whilst sailing!!

hey.. don't laugh! these things are IMPORTANT!!

Congrats again! and we want pictures!

Re: Got the Boat --Now What?

Not sure where you are sailing in FL, but you may want to get some charts. I find a dinghy is a nice addition to my cat and an outboard. Also like the idea of a handheld VHF or two. If you don't have one a bridle for the anchor and if you only have one anchor get another one to two. Make sure your ground tackle is up to speed. If you get solar panels you may need to up grade your batteries as well.

The longer you have your boat the longer the list will get.

Re: Got the Boat --Now What?

Thanks every one for the advice . How ever I am single and am looking for a first mate . The first mate I referenced in an earlier post was part of the delivery crew.

I got an incredible deal on a dingy and almost new motor from the moorings --not to brag but 500 for a 12 ft caribe and 1500 for an almost new 9.9 hp motor

My boat in at Burnt Store Marina and I am having air, genset ,electric wench and solar panels. Later I may install a water maker. I do have lots of charts and several sets of linens.

As far as a deal --- well it is a 2010 with 3000 hours on the Yanmar engines

Did you have an autopilot? That would be a tedious trip without one for two people.

Great boat and great engines. Just be sure to service them on a regular basis. As far as other things to do . . . enjoy and be safe.

You are so wrong. When you get a significant other then you will have an immediate demotion. You will probably end up with less rank than first mate. Cabin boy perhaps. She will be the Admiral!!!!

Start practicing your groveling now.

Just stick with your electric wench for a first mate, less supplies and maintenance needed lol.
