Green Cove Springs Marina, up river from Jacksonville, FL
Lots of DIY-ers in the yard, contractors available if needed.

Thanks Paul, last time I checked there they couldn't haul anything that wide. The otter place just north of there had a height limitation (power lines My overall height is about 50 ft.- too high. only option is to pull the stick.

Catamaran Boatyard
Key Largo, Fl.

Hauled my 26' tri with no problems (about 1' to spare on each side).
Services available from the yard or subcontractors or DIY.
My only bitch was being charged a live aboard fee for what were fairly atrocious bathrooms/showers etc.
Car would be very handy to run to West Marine, hardware, bldg. supplies, etc.

Re: good DIY yards SE coast US?

I was hoping to find some out of the way workboat type yard, maybe with a railway or even just a ramp wide enough to hire a wrecker to come and pull me out. A place you could camp out and do your own work on the cheap.

Looks like Thunderbolt or St Augustine will wind up costing over 1000 bucks just to haul pressurewash and paint.

I can beach myself here at low tide and scrape and paint, but I am told the DNR frowns on it here in Ga. And you wind up with not exactly a racing bottom either.:big grin:

Is that one down by the Old Holiday INN canal? or on dawn at Mandalay off Rodriguez?

Were they pricey?

Re: good DIY yards SE coast US?

I got super busted for doing a bit of painting at low tide here in April. It basically turns out it is not illegal but highly frowned upon. And you're right you really don't get a great finish probably 1/2 or 1/3 the paint life of a properly prepped, properly dried job.

Check out holland marine in Green Cove, he has a 40' wide lift but generally needs the mast unstepped. Could maybe do a 36' boat with boards with the mast up? He is also a "full service" yard but generally somewhat flexible.

If it works out, take some pictures of the haulout.

Re: good DIY yards SE coast US?

We hauled our 23'4" beam at St Augustine Marine. They allow a lot of DIY, except for painting although you can do your own sanding.

Try Lee Shore Marina on Turner's Creek/Wilmington Island in Savannah GA. They're a small boatyard with a railway catering mostly to fishing boats, and they're DIY.
