Garmin Chart Plotter

Where do you get world maps for the Garmin chart plotters? I go on their web site and see charts for the US but can not find ocean charts for Central america?? Is it a SD card you purchase or a download. I find it a bit frustrating considering there is tons places to buy chart plotters but less info. on how and where you can get charts for them. I am strictly speaking about international charts not US charts which are free on NOAA. Any beta would help on this matter. Thanks.
