Eplex by Airpax is one of several. I was told, "The May/June issue of Ocean Navigator has a comprehensive article on distributed power systems and lists the manufacturers.
Nigel Calder has written articles as well and is a strong proponent of the concept."

We use the Capi2 system and are very happy with it , light in weight ease of installation and the cost is not a train smash and it also incorporates the ac system with another bus ring line
Capi2 is a smart, easily accessible bus-based power supply system.

Greetings

2 bus system

Gideon,
I am considering a one off build. I was wondering if you thought the installation of the capi2 system was within the realms of a normal bloke with a bit of common sense. Also does the circuit include the winch or does this draw too much current??
Also the cost.. not a train smash?? but a good solid wack in the face with a cricket bat??
Cheers mate,
Nathan

Hallo Nathan
Even without the common sense you can install it , it is a lot simpler and less work involved than a normal installation.the winch is worked thru a remote relais since the biggest nodes ar 16 amps so just use a 3 amp node to activate the winch.
The cost works out to less than a normal system a 21 node system is around 3000 euro retail - 20 % discount that we give to all cruiser forum members.
This is normally large enough for a 40 ft cat.

Greetings

Gideon

That's very generous Gideon. I may take you up on it!

Cheers,
Mike

Hey Gideon, I was wondering when you install elec. on your boats? do you run it behind the interior wall?

Re: Fusion 40 Catamarans

Well I am always looking for a nice 40ft cruising cat to buy, I prefer these in order of preference - Fusion 40, Perry 40, Grainger 40 & Brady 40. I used to race monos across Bass Strait in all sorts of conditions so it has to be sound & steady.

I will get one with hopefully low engine hrs but the resale is important for sure. I really need to hear from someone who has sailed a Fusion 40 in the ocean for around 1,000 nm. The FP Athena is pretty lively, Perry & Grainger awesome in heavy weather but I know nothing about the Fusion.
I'll keep researching.
