That's a different thing, more like a "promotional deal" kinda like adding an extra electronic gizmo or two. Discounting implies the price is either loaded at the start or desperation to sell, neither will represent well for resale or in casual discussion between those that purchace. A good builder will set a fair price including margin & warranty allowances etc, any less your not really getting a good deal especially down the track...

It may be different in Oz but here in the states there are boat show discounts frequently. Like this 2014 Lagoon 450 discounted $68,900.

I don't know the price of that boat or how it was equipped but:

The L450 had a base price of $530,000 US in 20011.

And a base price of 379,000 Euros in 2013

I've heard that they are around $750K to $800K properly outfitted.

So, with options I suspect it was around 10% off.
