Worst of all, all those injections, blood tests and time in quarantine must be unpleasant for your pets.
Yes, we knew some folks one of whose two cats was traumatized so much by quarantining that it went and hid whenever strangers came aboard thereafter, whereas it had been friendly before.

Re: Can I take my dog to pick up a new FP in France

Thanks every one I have since contacted the Australian authorities and I must say were very helpful and patient with my enquiries, the procedure is checks prior to departure, if doggy passes those checks it is good for two years, prior to returning however further checks are required to make sure no bugs have been picked up, I agree with the opinions that all this is a lot of stress on doggy. We have decided if purchase works we will find doggy carer.

Taking a pet into Australia is complicated, but not impossible —

If you find the process daunting or the health concerns of so many injections unsafe, hire someone experienced with both pets and boats to care for them while you are away, to alleviate some of the worry.

By the way, I just finished a month-long sit with a Tibetan terrier in Hythe, Kent. I absolutely fell in love with Molly!

Cheers
