You'd get into Wathumba fine. Maybe not Coongul though. There's plenty of room in Hill, so we won't mind.

Between Brisbane and the Whitsundays you shouldn't need to do any overnight sails, with the possible exception of Brisbane to Wide bay, if you wanted to skip Mooloolabah.

Mostly anchorages are within 40 to maybe 65 miles of each other.

We actually never go via Mackay, preferring to island hop, staying out a bit wider. Scawfell island is one of our favourite places, also the Duke islands, which IIRC aren't in the Alan Lucas book.

Remember to check notices to mariners regarding possible closures of the military areas around Island Head creek. Sometimes Island head creek, Pearl bay and Port Clinton are closed. Which is a shame, these are beautiful anchorages.

Just South of the military area is Corio Bay, a great anchorage that we often have to ourselves. Fairly shallow entry, just needs a bit of tide.

When are you heading up?

I always liked Lady Musgrave and High Peak islands.
