Re: Atlantic Delivery

It would be great fun if Boatie had another vessel in tow, but I'd place my guess on his having slowed down being to bring the boat in in the best possible shape, and I'd say he's under reduced canvas to make the slow, consistent rate of travel.

We'll find out, of course, sometime, anyhow, I'm wishing him smooth sailing.

Re: Atlantic Delivery

Looks like 160nm to go. Perhaps we should send a welcoming group just to get a close and personal report.

He is going at a snails pace for that cat. It will be interesting to see what has happened.

Re: Atlantic Delivery

Boaty, Boaty, Boaty
Sailing across the sea,
SaltyMonkey watching
Want to climb a tree.

Boaty makes a S-turn,
Then decides "Go South!"
Here comes Northw'er
Boaty screams "C'about!"

Big mast ahover
Twists, snaps, and flips,
Boaty looks to mast head,
Boaty screams "OH ****!"

BVI was quicker
Had much better beer.
But not for Boaty Boaty,
For Boaty had to steer.

He's got a good reputation....

But, Phil may need sail repair/replacement as well...I think that's Horta Yachting Center.....
(or does Duncan at MAYS still have sail cloth and machine?? it's been a few years since I was there...)

Re: Atlantic Delivery

I would bet Boaty is just taking his time enjoying his trip across the Atlantic. Might in fact be sipping on that last bottle right now !

thats the guy, jean pierre i was there last december fitting a new rudder on a yacht, once we had disassembled the steering found a crack in the quadrant which he whisked off and repaired for us ,as well as a few other bits.
he did a lot of running around for us as well as the repairs, reccomend the guy to anybody passing through.

dont know about the sail repair guys, but the azoreans are resourcful bunch, used to fixing anything, also daily flights to lisbon so one way or another phil should be able to sort things fairly easily.

unless he needs to haul out as the boat yard is full, though he could probably dry out on the slip between tides.

i will contact the marina and jp and let them know he is arriving in case he does not have a sat phone ,tomorrow

Re: Atlantic Delivery

Perhaps he has female crew and is too busy to hoist sails? Or wanting to make the trip as long as possible?
