Cats will belly up, the issue is when you scratch their belly, they will sometimes bite you.

Are we talking about that or about a Chris White 57 named Leopard? More probably, I would say and in that case it would be the 2th to turn turtle on a relatively small number of boats made.
I'm thinking that it's not a Leopard 58, given that they have a fixed 6' draft, & fat, flared hulls. While a Chris White 57 has a variable draft.

Too late to get it from marinetraffic. They store the history about 24h or something..

Yes no need to speculate, that is an Atlantic 57 (by Chris White) and not a Leopard 57. The Leopard is 58 anyway.

Somebody should change the title of the thread not to induce members in error.

The only speculation is how they have managed to capsize that big cat on what it looks like almost perfect sailing conditions. No waves on the photo above and at that time the weather on the zone was apparently just fine.

re: Atlantic 57 Catamaran Capsized

Looks like the 2nd A57 to turtle as previously mentioned. Cant wait to hear what the Captain, crew, or Chris White have to report on this. Im no genius but this capsizing appears to be dead smack center of the Bermuda Triangle and near the location that the El Faro cargo ship went down.

I agree with Polux. In all fairness to Leapord the title of this thread should probably be changed.

re: Atlantic 57 Catamaran Capsized

I've never sailed in a multihull with adjustable daggerboards - so question I have for folks more learned is... Why does it seem like both were deployed? Should only one be deployed at a time depending on tact?

Sure doesn't look good for this particular design - obviously there can always be instances of operator error, but perhaps the margin of safety for human idiocy may be too low for a cruiser.

re: Atlantic 57 Catamaran Capsized

Chris White's are performance boats...I think some cruisers forget that and are not attentive enough.

Dont know yet what happened in this case, but the account of one capsized a few years ago was like watching a bad horror movie..."No! Dont do that!"

According to the story, a delivery trip. As I recall, the capsize of "Anna" in the Indian Ocean was also on a delivery trip.

Re: Atlantic 57 Catamaran Capsized

Back in'68 the schooner Bluenose nearly sailed herself under same area. Moderate night, sudden major wind .no time for crew to react, Fortunately sails left their bolt ropes and it was over
