Re: Annapolis Sailboat show thoughts

At the show, someone handed me a flyer on the "Quad 44" a futuristic catamaran, with electric drives, all solar power, and looks like a spaceship. It may be too futuristic for me, but if you like the Neel 45 trimaran, you would probably like this:

Something interesting to see anyway, if it ever is built.

I believe FP would remove the knee desk on the FP40 for a full size hanging closet. They do it on their other models as an option.

Re: Annapolis Sailboat show thoughts

Hi Everyone. Please do yourselves the favour of looking at the FP Saba 50. It is an incredible catamaran. Spacious like you would not believe. . The only cat we know of that offers a huge owners cabin AND another 3 full Queen bedded cabins. Very high ceilings. Incredible galley that your wives will freak over with the central walk around island so that 3 people can easily work in the galley without bumping into each other as on all other manufacturers models out there. Great helm area connected to both cockpit, saloon and top deck. Easily reachable boom and mainsail. Great helm and winch area set up so this cat can easily be managed by 2 people. Fantastic cupboard and storage space throughout. Great engine bay access and space. I could go on and on. Feel free to see and comment or ask questions on the Saba 50 thread on CF.

Again, it all depends on your needs, wants and reasoning.

None of the boats (except the Gunboat!) will outsail the Outremer. Wish I could afford one.

FP and Lagoon have good reps for condomarans and sail well as such.

We're considering a Seawind which is perfect for us.

The rest I've discarded over the past few years.

If I am not mistaken the person on the gunboat said it was the same decking/flooring they use on there boat.
We too liked this decking as it was very soft on our feet. The salesman said it was just added by the owner. We mentioned it to the Nautitech people and they said to be careful as it can get very hot in the sun since it is a darker color.

Re: Annapolis Sailboat show thoughts

I looked at videos of the Nautitech 46 Fly and the X5. I know there are others similar to them, but why don't these modern designs have flush hatches. Just a pet peeve of mine, but if they made the designers walk the decks, they would surely do so after a few stubbed or broken toes!

The first time I walked onto a Lagoon 50 back in 2006 or 08 I was blown away by the flush hatches. My first thought was why hasn't that been thought of before?

Nope....

Just got back from Tortola. Boat got there Tuesday , we got on board on Wednesday. I love the boat. Will try to download some of the vid I took on the boat (down below), but was shot with a GoPro, so gotta figure out how to get it to talk nicely with the CF interface Maybe not all the fancy of the other boats mentioned, but very comfortable, and lovely to sail. I did take a shot of the instruments to show she does sail quite well. Very happy with the boat. I do think a great compromise in cost/performance/luxury/quality/quality/etc.
