Ama 35?

Anyone cruising in an Ama 35? If so, how do you like it?

That's a new one to me; who makes it, and do you have a link?

Yeah I guess it is a design that never caught on, but I am not sure why. When I was a younger sprout I lusted after that design, though I never saw one let alone sailed on one. Dick Newick design: on page 210 here
https://books.google.com/books?id=lL...page&q&f=false
That ad is the only thing google turned up, but I have an old brochure of one in my old stuff somewhere.
edit: on a further search, I still cannot turn up more info on it. I thought it looked like a great design, Newick had a bunch of them. If anyone is really interested I'll see if I can dig up that old brochure.

Looks like a Newick that was for sale in Turkey 7 or 8 years ago.

Re: Ama 35?

Yes, it seemed like a nice boat. I guy claimed to have bought it a year ago and took it sailing once in a bit of breeze and changed his mind?

The boat actually has a pretty modest masthead rig, but is quite fast. With a "turbo" rig it would probably rate somewhere around 21 in phrf.

Re: Ama 35?

That is very similar for sure. The Ama 35 had an aft cockpit. Sure is a good looking design. Anyone have any experience with it?

It is a nice boat. The original owner/builder told me it would sail 7kts in a 5 kt breeze. He sailed this boat extensively throughout the Bahamas and Caribbean. He circumnavigated once or twice on his older Piver 42 but not on this tri, though he said he would have no problem doing so.
