The second most beautiful boat I have seen.

Look at the interior!

Are these good seaworthy boats?
My budget is only £25/30k, I would be considering this if I had more NM's and time under my patch.

Re: The second most beautiful boat I have seen.

Sea worthy I don't doubt, but a one off design. Certainly looks very nice although the photos are tiny. Timber so probably heavy maintenance demand. And you'll obviously realise mrk123 it's 3 times your budget.
My advice, if you're interested; buy a boat you can afford and go sailing, clock up those NMs. Put your hand up to crew on deliveries. Join a local sailing club and crew on all the keeler boats in the fleet and then get out and race your own boat, (once you buy one,) whilst you master the fine art.
Oh and please update your profile so we know where in the world you are. It's easy peasy.

Also, "put hand up to crew for deliveries... Can you explain more? I would love to go on some sailing excursions deckhanding / handballing.

Re: The second most beautiful boat I have seen.

Thats a beautoful boat. The ludicrously low prive is because it is wood. I love wooden boats but their owners will tell you they take crazy amounts of maintenance. Also 55 feet is massive
Ladyk on youtube gives sugfestions for good boats in like 6 price ranges. plus his channel is just cool. He seems to focus on coastal cruisers though if thats what you eant

She is a beauty..
I think the amount of maintenance depends on the construction method..
The Cates, Ann & Jim have been cruising their wood/epoxy boat around the S Pacific and Oz for a coupla decades or more with few/no recorded hull problems, in fact they have high praise for the strength of the boat.

I read back in the day that if you do wood epoxy Right it's as good as frp. But it wasnt cheap and it's a LOT of work.

You may have started a “Which is the best anchor” debate. Wood or fiberglass, which is “better”…

Wow it is a very beautiful boat.
If I were in the market it is something i would definitely consider but only after flying in the best surveyor I could find. It would be money well spent.
Good Luck

There are professional delivery companies / skippers who get paid to move boats when the owner doesn't want to (or doesn't feel capable to) move it themselves.

They normally pay their skippers and a mate but are often looking for crew to help them (they usually only pay your expenses). They do normally require you to have at least a day skipper practical qualification as they will probably want you to stand a solo watch.

I have logged about 4000 miles and 36 day (&nights) doing deliveries in that way. Three from the Baltic to the Solent and one from Majorca to the Solent.

Another way to get sea time is to find someone who has their own boat and either likes taking people out for company or feels that they need another pair of hands to help with ropes etc.

As you are in the UK it may be worth looking into the facebook group
"Last Minute Sailing Buddies(UK)" where you can ask if anyone in your area is looking for help.

One warning though!

Just because someone has a boat doesn't necessarily mean that it is seaworthy or that they know what they are doing.
Be prepared to talk to them and decide whether you are prepared to risk going to sea with them.

On my last attempt at a trip through that web-site the owner had bought his first boat without having it surveyed , having it lifted or having the engine serviced.

I lifted one of the fenders and there was 5 feet of kelp on the bottom.
He also couldn't understand why he needed life-jackets or a working radio...

I walked away from the boat and came back home by train rather than risk doing a 60 mile trip down the east coast on it.

He ended up selling the boat for scrap without ever getting out of the harbour...

This boat has a very pretty interior. Light and airy, I love it. It is however, just a house which floats and you can move it from place to place.

In my opinion, looking at the cover photograph on that listing, it is a fat pig. I wouldn't touch it (that's just me).

You have two choices in sailboats: A house on the water or a boat for sailing.

Rarely do you get both in the same boat. (Ok folks, Hit me)

Being the owner of a converted race boat she may be a fat pig to you however.. she's no more of a fat pig than a Beneteau 55 nor an Oyster 53..
Horses for courses..
