Pearson 35 Spreader

The spreaders on my boat were wooden and I bought two really nice aluminum spreaders that will work perfect. They have bolts to capture the stays but no groove.
The question is I want to cut delrin blocks to put on the end so the stays are secured and kept in place. Is delrin a good choice or will it split under load?

Blocks cut measure 3 x 1 1/4 x 2 1/2 with a groove for the stainless stays.

I will have spreader boots.

Not sure why you need the delrin blocks. If there is a bolt to secure the stay, that should be all that is necessary. Assuming the bolt is at the end of a 'U' depression to keep the stay on the spreader. Delrin should work fine, however.

Stay is flat on the end 1 inch tall by 2 1/2 wide, no groove for the stay to be in. Just a 2 1/2 by 2 hole and the big bolt on the end.

I could make the block keep the stay on the metal end?

From wear marks it looks like two side by side stays seperated by an inch.
