Pearson 34

Does anyone know anything about the Pearson 34? I am looking at one for a liveaboard and to travel the ICW to the islands. I know its a Bill Shaw, but that about it. Thanks in advance.

Easy 8 Knots

I have been restoring one for the last 4 years, I love it. It draws six feet so I do have to be careful on the ICW but I sail it all the time. The boat is very fast and I single hand it most of the time. I bought a new Genoa a couple of months ago and just blew out my main last week going out the Houston Ship Channel. If you have any specifics I would be happy to answer to the best of my ability. If you are ever in the Galveston area would enjoy showing it off. GO PEARSON

I would suggest checking out the www.pearson35.com website. If you are planning on sailing the Bahamas the 35s only draw 3'9" with board up.Pearson made very good boats just remember all will be 30+ years old and will need work of some sort. Unless you are lucky enough to find one that has been restored. The prices are very reasonable.

I own a 1985 Pearson 34. I currently sail on Lake Lanier in Georgia. For a weekender, it is a great boat. Plenty of room for a couple and we routinely spend long weekends with our two sons as well. I have owned the boat for 5 years and love it. As for cruising, I think there are some shortfalls. Tankage for one. 22 gals of Diesel, 50 gals of water seem small to me. On the ICW though it might be fine. Also, the 6 foot draft is an issue. Pearson did make the 34 in a Keel/centerboard version that would solve that problem. The boat sails great and as has been mentioned is easy to single hand. I would be happy to answer any specific questions you have about the boat.
